I was really pleased to get the chance to visit the latest exhibition at the McManus: Dundee's Art Galleries and Museum. This is a solo exhibition of the work of FCB Caddell one of the Scottish Colourists. This exhibition is a collaboration between the McManus and the National Galleries of Scotland. It is well worth a visit. If you haven't seen the refurbished McManus that is also well worth a visit. There is an interesting video about Caddell and his work on the National Galleries of Scotland website. The colours in this exhibition are fantastic and well worth visiting.
On Wednesday evening I was at the April meeting of the Community Spirit Action Group, this group covers residents who live in the northern part of the West End ward. There was a presentation from Jay Grant who is the officer responsible for the West End ward in the Environment Department. He spoke about how the Environment Department is trying to ensure that there is a joined-up approach to the work of the department and consistency across the ward. It is early days for this but on the whole this is a good idea and I hope that it will work for the benefit of everyone in the city.
